Graffiti-Art Exhibition at “Postsortierhalle am Stephansplatz”, Hamburg / Germany
The success of the Urban Discipline exhibition in 2000 resulted in the artistic collective getting-up being commissioned to organize a follow-up exhibition in the following year. Urban Discipline 2001 set out to convey the evolution of a movement that started as an underground youth subculture and which, today, has established itself as a genre in the in the art world.
In order to provide the exhibition’s 22 artists with enough space, Urban Discipline moved into the Postsortierhalle at Stephansplatz in Hamburg, with 1,000 m² of exhibition space for canvases, murals, sculptures, pictures and installations. The exhibition featured over 100 works by internationally respected artists such as Os Gemeos, Codeak, Ecb, Dare and Toast, providing its visitors with an insight into the variety and excitement of the current graffiti-scene.
Special Highlight: The well-known photographer Martha Cooper exhibited her legendary photos from the early days of the HipHop culture
